Infrared Light Emitting Diodes are semiconductor devices that can emit infrared light when current flows through them. Infrared light is invisible to the human eye, this makes these devices suitable for Night vision and Proximity detection applications. When paired with an Infrared Receiver Diode or Module, These devices can be used for remote control applications. Most electronic gadgets such as TV, Home theater systems etc use them for remote control. This device must be used in forward bias as well as with a current limiting resistor to avoid damage.
